Earth Day Event at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza!
As one of the many Earth Day celebrations, "Global Voices" was held on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza. As Gateway to the United Nations, the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza provided an exhibition of photographs and a stage for organizations to spread awareness of global concerns related to UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for health, education and the environment.
The event started off with an energy dance performance, "Avatar Kigong," by YEHA (Young Earth Human Alliance) expressing our connection to the earth, as demonstrated in the cinematic hit, Avatar. City officials and members from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), NYH20, the Greenmarket Program, NYC Park Advocates, the Korean Institute of Brain Science and more came to celebrate Earth Day and present their concerns regarding the MDGs. One city official suggested that every day should be considered "Earth Day" to ensure the health of our planet for generations to come.
Also, on April 23rd, in celebration of Earth Day, YEHA presented at the Earth Citizen Walk School Assembly at Stonybrook School in New Jersey!
